A little #asmr video. #behindthescenes of a soap table smeared in dry soap batter at the end of an insanely stressful week for our family. I cried over spilled milk (my son’s @leaflyboba - the absolute best), because my nerves are so fried. But then I was able to go cut this beautiful soap I had made a few days before. It was poured much thinner than I normally do, which meant it practically glued itself to my mold. Thankfully @rousty.washashoresoaps was able to strong arm it out for me. And those thin colors led to an almost watercolor design!
Enjoy the plink my soap cutter makes as it gets through the soap, and be kind. Yep- it’s all covered in soap batter and that’s ok!

I snuck a few new soaps on our website last night, just in time for you to snatch them before the sale ends!

This was my first time making confetti soaps (incorporating the scraps of soap I edge off of the corners of the soap bars), and I think they look really fun! I’m hoping to use it as a test run for the fragrances. If you love them, they may come back as a regular soap in our line. There aren’t many, so make sure to grab them and let us know your thoughts!

It’s been one of those weeks that go by in a flash, but also seem to have gone on eternally. I’m participating in a small, local craft fair Saturday, and haven’t had a chance to get prepped. Even this short wrapping session was cut short and the soaps were left just as they are at the end of this video… waiting for tomorrow.
And even in the chaos of a messy life, I’m so proud of what you see in this video. These soaps, for which I created the recipes, after research, experimentation, and lots of practice, are pure joy to me. I once could only use plain white soaps- nothing with color or fragrance… because the dermatologist said so. But I didn’t know what a well crafted handmade soap could do for me. My skin is healthier than ever, and the joy of beautiful soap that smells amazing is one small part of what helps days that feel like years feel somewhat less daunting. Never underestimate the power of the little things.
Here I’m using the @nationalshrinkwrap system to wrap my soaps in biofilm. It’s a compostable film that protects our soaps while on display or being shipped, yet is eco friendly!

💜 Black Amber & Lavender is a spa-like fragrance with hints of lavender, rosewood, vanilla and soft musk. I’m lucky enough to have a bonus mom who has included me in her family since grade school, and this is her favorite lotion.

🔟 years ago today since my first batch of soap!
That is wild to me, and makes this a great chance to (re) introduce myself.
My name is Krista. I’m a science enthusiast (my bachelor’s degree is in microbiology), and I’ve been married to @rousty.washashoresoaps (Fred) for 21 years. We have two amazing teenagers whom we homeschool. In the 10 years since I started making soap, we have lived in 5 homes in 3 states.
Fred was active duty Coast Guard, looking for a better way to shave, which lead me to have on hand the basics for making a simple soap. The second picture shows it- poured into a mold made from a repurposed CD holder. My skin is problematic and while I ‘knew’ I couldn’t use the soap I made (it wasn’t on the dermatologist’s list of approved products), I couldn’t help myself from making it.
I cut that first batch, and let it cure for a month. When I did try it out, I was shocked to find that my skin was improved rather than irritated. Between that and the fun of making soap, I was hooked!
I learned to make soap via @mcginnis.cat Soaping 101 YouTube channel and Facebook group. They have consistently been the most encouraging group of people and I’m incredibly thankful to them all.
Soap making has allowed me to go from having to use boring soap (no colors or fragrances) to having delightful works of consumable art at every bath and sink. I am enamored with the processes of researching and formulating great products, and of course the art of making beautiful soap. But the biggest gift this company has given me is the connections I’ve made with you. The stories of how a scent or soap brought you comfort, helped you celebrate, or just brought a smile have been the biggest blessings upon could never have counted on.

Thank you to all of you who have purchased, used, gifted or just told people about our products! You’ve allowed me to pursue this strange passion of mine for 10 years! And I hope to be able to continue for a long time to come.

I cut that first batch, and let it cure for a month. When I did try it out, I was shocked to find that my skin was improved rather than irritated. Between that and the fun of making soap, I was hooked!
I learned to make soap via @mcginnis.cat Soaping 101 YouTube channel and Facebook group. They have consistently been the most encouraging group of people and I’m incredibly thankful to them all.
Soap making has allowed me to go from having to use boring soap (no colors or fragrances) to having delightful works of consumable art at every bath and sink. I am enamored with the processes of researching and formulating great products, and of course the art of making beautiful soap. But the biggest gift this company has given me is the connections I’ve made with you. The stories of how a scent or soap brought you comfort, helped you celebrate, or just brought a smile have been the biggest blessings upon could never have counted on.
